Nodon is now a well known brand in the world of home automation. Developing devices both for the EnOcean and Z-wave Plus communication protocol, Nodon uses the best of two technologies to provide two ranges of complementary products. The young French company now sees rewarded for its innovation and design efforts by receiving a prestigious award for innovation awarded by the jury of CES Innovation Awards, for his smoke detector connected EYE.
EYE is the result of lengthy research and development, qualification and testing between the companies Altyor Group Nodon and PDCI. PDCI is one of the most innovative French companies in the market for connected objects and member of the BPI Excellence community (in 2000 the most innovative French companies). This collaboration has created a smoke detector of high reliability in order to best protect the people, with a case of the smallest market.
EYE uses no optical chamber, it is able to analyze the smoke before it reaches the detector. It uses a new smoke detection technology LEDs; when the first LED detects an obscuration, the second LED will analyze in the case of smoke or not.
It is thus possible to obtain a better accuracy and optimize the activation of the alarm. Additionally, EYE recognizes different types of smoke and can distinguish cooking spray or a fire start.
EYE marks a real turning point in the market for fire detection, a total of 11 patents have been filed for this innovation. EYE solves many problems: false alarms, the detection time and the sensor size, which often are a barrier to a correct and efficient use installation.
EYE is not a simple smoke detector, but RF based smoke detector. The first version of EYE will be Z-Wave and Z-Wave Plus protocol compatible. In addition, EYE detectors can communicate, for circulating the alarm throughout the house in case of danger.
The EYE smoke detector will be available in March 2016.
